SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
Under the instructions of the Shan State Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force, a departmental combined team made unexpectedly inspections on 19 July, according to information.
Officials captured K51,182,722 worth clothes, consumer goods, electronics, walkie talkies and accessories from a stopped Dongfeng truck with Chinese licence (approximately K20 million) without officials documents at the side of No.(5) street in Swansaw Ward of Muse Township. The effective action was prosecuted under the Customs Procedures.
In addition, a total of 1.9126 tonnes of illegal teak doors worth K1,262,316 from an Isuzu 6-wheel vehicle (approximately K30 million) were seized near West Yangon University roundabout in Hlinethaya township.
Similarly, on 20 July, a team led by Myanmar Police Force made inspections under the supervision of Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force.
They confiscated an unregistered Lifan motorbike (approximately K350,000) in Monywa township and action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
In addition, a total of 160.0424 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K63,202,160 were captured in Htigyaing township and action was taken under the Forest Law.
Afterwards, a combined inspection team confiscated K1.4 million worth of consumer goods without official documents near 18/6 milepost of Mandaly-PyinOoLwin Road and a total of 344 kilogrammes of raw jade worth K17.2 million from two motorbikes (approximately K500,000) at 16th-mile Kyaukchaw Checkpoint. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Similarly, an unregistered vehicle (approximately K3 million) was captured in Pandaung township. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law. A total of 4.4394 tonnes of illegal teak worth K1,722,204 was confiscated in Okpo and Zigon townships. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, 14 arrests estimated at K189,819,402 were made on 19 and 20 July, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
