Kawthoung District-Level Destination Management Organization organizes meeting on tourism rehabilitation on 25 December.

Kawthoung District-Level Destination Management Organization (DMO) held a coordination meeting on tourism revival in accordance with the health directives of the Ministry of Health and Sports yesterday in Kawthoung.
Departmental officials, hotel and tour operators, and tour guides participated in the discussion and gave suggestions.
The Kawthoung District DMO aims to develop tourism destinations based on the traditional culture and natural resources of the region with the participation of the respective stakeholders, to respond to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and to facilitate the visit of tourists when domestic and foreign tourism recovers in the post-COVID-19 period, to ensure the security and safety and to pre-plan the development of community-based tourism and the recovery of Myanmar’s tourism sector.
There are about 11 beautiful islands for day trips, 26 islands for snorkelling and adventure trips and 13 islands for scuba diving trip. Seaborne tours are more likely to attract tourists than city tours in Kawthoung. Besides the Salone or Mawkin people, a rare human race that attracts tourists, can be found in some islands of Kawthoung. In the past, Singaporean luxury cruise ships used to visit the seas and islands of Kawthoung as day trips from Phuket, Thailand, according to the records of the Department of Hotels and Tourism.—Kyaw Soe(Kawthoung) (Translated by Ei Phyu Phyu Aung)
