Maha United beat powerhouse Yangon United in MNL Week-16

The last day of the Week-16 of the Myanmar National League 2023 season, which was postponed due to the international competition, was held yesterday at Youth Training Centre in Thuwanna, and Maha United defeated Yangon by 1-0.
In yesterday’s match, the Yangon team which was sure to get the second place because the Shan United became the champion unexpectedly lost to Maha United and faced their third defeat this season.
The Maha United team was able to end a seven-match winless streak and rejoin the 4th/5th place match. Both teams played with key players to win, but Maha United won with a goal scored in the first half.
The Yangon team tried to score an equalizing goal, but could not use opportunities to goals. Maha United managed the best defence with no mistakes, so Yangon faced defeat. Maha United’s defender Toe Satt Naing won the best player award for the match.
After the Week-16, Shan United crowned the championship title with 59 points while Yangon occupied the second place with 50 points and Hanthawady United took the third place with 37 points. GFA team which only garnered 12 points and Kachin United earning 10 points fell to the relegation zone, with a match left. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
