Mandalay City Development Committee will enforce wearing face masks, with imposing fines commencing April 17 (1st Myanmar New Year).
U Kyaw San Myint, the member of MCDC, said their committee, the representatives of markets, textile merchants and well-wishers will distribute reusable face masks to the public in the city. “Everybody is at risk of this disease. Nobody should be careless about it, and need to follow the instructions of the Ministry of Health and Sports in protecting the respective communities and the country,” the officer said.
The Hluttaw representatives, local authorities and volunteers are conducting awareness campaigns for wearing face masks at present, and banning those without face masks from entering the markets.—Min Htet Aung (Mandalay Sub-printing House) (Translated by Aung Khin)
