Mitsubishi Corp, Hitachi win contract to modernize signaling on Yangon-Pyuntaza route

Yangon, 14 June — Myanma Railways has awarded Mitsubishi Corp and Hitachi a ¥2•4bn contract to modernize signaling on the 140 km Yangon-Pyuntaza route by June 2017, funded by a grant from Japan International Co-operation Agency.
Ministry of Rail Transportation, which controls the railway operator, also spent $207 million of  ODA loans  from Japan in March to buy about 100 air-conditioned coaches from Japan to replace ordinary cars currently in use on Yangon’s circular railroad.—GNLM
