Monks, laypersons honoured with titles and medals for contributions to building Maravijaya Buddha Image

The Chairman of the State Administration Council conferred honorary titles on the monks and laypersons for their outstanding performances in building the Maravijaya Buddha Image in Dakkhinathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, as per the State Administration Council’s Notification No 125/2023 and 126/2023 on 23 July 2023.
The title of Thray Sithu was offered to four Sayadaws and five laypersons. Additionally, the title of Sithu was conferred upon two Sayadaws and two laypersons. Furthermore, the title of Thiri Pyanchi was bestowed upon 20 Sayadaws and three laypersons, while the title of Wunna Kyaw Htin was given to two persons, and the title of Theikpa Kyawswa to four persons.
The Thray Sithu title was conferred on Dr Bhaddanta Nyanissara, State Ovadacariya, Shwegyin Niyaka Chairman of Sitagu International Vipassana University (Sagaing), Bhaddanta Saddhiya, Shwe Thuwun Sayadaw, Dr Bhaddanta Silananda Bhivamsa, retired Rector of International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University, and Bhaddanta Vimalabuddhi Pali Sayadaw, Pali Tekkatho Mingala Zeyon Pariyatti Buddhist Learning Centre in Nay Pyi Taw.
The Thray Sithu title was awarded to Lt-Gen Nyo Saw, advisor to the Chairman of the SAC, Lt-Gen Kyaw Swa Lin of the Ministry of Defence, Lt-Gen Kan Myint Than, Chief of Defence Industries of the Ministry of Defence, Maj-Gen Ko Ko Lwin of the Ministry of Defence and Dr Nyi Hla Nge, patron of the Myanmar Engineering Council.
The Sithu title was presented to Dr Bhaddanta Hsekinda, rector of the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University, Yankin Sayadaw Bhaddanta Khemananda, and Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant and structure professional of the Engineer Council Dr Toe Toe Win.
In addition, it is known that the Chairman of the State Administration Council has conferred the title of Thiha Thudhamma Manijotadhara on the person who has contributed exceptionally to the construction of the Maravijaya Buddha Image enshrined in Dakkhinathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area. — MNA/KZW
