MoNREC designates Lonmon as protected public forest

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation has designated the area of 462 acres in Tangyan Township, Tangyan District in Shan State (North), as “Lonmon Protected Public Forest” from 14 March 2023 under the Forest Law (2018).
The Lonmon protected public forest is designated with the aim of enhancing the verdancy of the surrounding environment, conserving and safeguarding water, land and biological diversity, maintaining a climatic equilibrium, and safeguarding the forest areas adjacent to the former pine plantations established by the Forest Department.—Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation/KZW
