Myanmar classical vocalist-cum-actress passes away

Renowned Myanmar classical female vocalist and theatrical performer Nan Khin Aye died on 6 December at approximately 8 pm in her residence in Yankinaung Ward, Patheingyi Township, Mandalay Region.
The 71-year-old artiste, a recipient of numerous gold medals, was the granddaughter of Alinka Kyawswa Nandawshay Saya Tin, daughter of theatrical performer Alinka Kyawswa Shwe Nan Tin and Daw Khin San Tin, elder sister of theatrical performer Nan Win and theatrical performer Nan Khin Hmwe, and the wife of academy award winner Nyein Min (U Myo Aung), a renowned writer, film director, and scriptwriter.
According to her sister, Nan Khin Hmwe, she had been unwell for an extended period and succumbed to a common illness. Nan Khin Aye, known for her classical songs, gained fame with her 1992 music album, ‘ A 100th Anniversary of Mandalay.’ Her funeral is scheduled for today (8 December) at Yayhtwat cemetery, with the procession departing from her residence in Yankinaung Ward, Patheingyi Township, at 3 pm. — ASH/TMT
