Myanmar to exhibit avocados at Thailand International Trade Fair in Bangkok

Myanmar avocados will be introduced at the International Trade Fair to be held in Thailand, said to Vice-Chairman U Myo Nyunt of the Myanmar Avocado Producer and Exporter Association.
The exhibition which will be hosted in Bangkok in November will present Hass and Pinkerton avocado varieties from Myanmar. It is known that Myanmar-produced avocados will be displayed because of the interest they received, and it will be able to connect with the international market by participating in the fair.
“Preparations are being made for Myanmar avocados to be shown at the trade fair in Bangkok. Myanmar has widened the cultivation of foreign verities in avocado growing areas and the yield has increased. There will be high yields in 2023 and 2024. We need to find the market at that time.
Thus, we are making market research at trade fairs and connecting with international markets. We have introduced our avocados in France this month. Many European countries seem to like our Hass avocado variety at that exhibition,” he added.
Avocados are grown in Shan State, Chin State, Mandalay Region and upper Sagaing Region in Myanmar. There are 23 avocado varieties, around 20,000 acres of avocado plantations and over 6,000 avocado farmers in Myanmar. — Min Htet Aung (Mandalay Sub-printing House)/GNLM
