Myanmar to open consulates in Russian Federation for enhancement of diplomatic relations

External Relations Committee Chairman Mr Grigoriev Evgeny Dmitrievich of the St Petersburg Government pays a courtesy call on State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and External Relations Committee Chairman Mr Grigoriev Evgeny Dmitrievich, member of the St Petersburg Government, discussed preparations for the establishment of consulates in the Russian Federation to enhance diplomatic relations between Myanmar and Russia.
Chairman of the External Relations Committee Mr Grigoriev Evgeny Dmitrievich from the Russian Federation called on Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at the office of SAC Chairman in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.
Both sides emphasized the promotion of cooperation in bilateral friendly relations between Myanmar and Russia in addition to sector-wise cooperation including education, health and tourism sectors.
They also discussed the exchange of students to pursue higher education, the establishment of sister cities from a city in St Petersburg and a city of Myanmar, bilateral relations in cultural and religious affairs, and trade promotion.
Also present at the meeting were SAC Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe and Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Lwin Oo. The Russian delegation was accompanied by officials from the Russian Embassy to Myanmar. — MNA/TTA
