The National Volunteer Steering Unit held their secretariat coordination meeting concerning providing necessary assistances to volunteers working in quarantine centres across the nation yesterday.
At the meeting held at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Union Minister Dr Win Myat Aye said as volunteers help out in quarantine centres across Myanmar, the ministry is organizing capacity-building training and distributing volunteer manuals.
He said they are arranging for volunteer medals and certificates of honour and have formed township volunteer support units to assist volunteers.
He said the volunteers need to have access to temporary accommodation, food and travel and the national unit needs to know the actual situation in the field to offer effective support.
Next, attendees discussed ongoing and future processes and field checks to be conducted. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister, directors-general, and secretariat members of the National Volunteer Steering Unit. —MNA (Translated by Zaw Htet Oo)
