Nawnghkio resumes train service for tourism recovery

Nawnghkio Township in northern Shan State restarted train services in order for the tourism industry to raise its head again.
With the local ethnic people singing and dancing, they welcomed the domestic travellers who left for the jaw dropping Gokteik viaduct by train through Mandalay-Lashio railway section, which is the famous tourist site in Nawnghkio Township on the Christmas Day.
U Sai Thaw Lin, general manager of Myanma Railways, U San Thar Aung, assistant general manager of MR (Upper Myanmar branch), and officials of Division-3 of MR, the deputy director of northern Shan State Directorate of Hotels and Tourism and officials, chairman of Nawnghkio Township Administration Body and officials from the related departments also made a warm welcome to the rail service.
There is a total of 140 passengers on this train journey. Train service is set to run on Sundays, departing at 8:30 am from PyinOoLwin and arriving at 11:30 pm in Gokteik viaduct. The train will return after 1 hour stop for the travellers to go sightseeing.
The visitors can enjoy breathtaking scenery view of green fields and hills.
