Officials arrange transport for 168 returnees from Laos, Thailand

A total of 168 returnees from Laos and Thailand who have tested negative for COVID-19 came back home through the Wampong Port and Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge (2), Tachilek, Shan State (East) on 23 September (yesterday).
Officials arranged free transportation for all the returnees by vehicle to reach their respective regions and states.
The returnees were extradited from Laos and Thailand on 18 September.
With the supervision of the Prevention, Control and Treatment Committee on COVID-19 in Tachilek District, the returnees were diagnosed by RDT Rapid Test Kit for the first time.
On the third day of quarantine at Wamlone Center, nasal and palate samples of the returnees were taken and sent to Taunggyi for a second diagnosis.
According to the test results, the COVID-19 virus was detected in 64 repatriated people and they will stay in Wamlone COVID-19 Centre to receive further medical treatment.
Next, officials underwent a second medical examination and a total of 168 people: 117 males and 51 females tested negative for COVID-19.
Officials distributed food to the returnees and provided necessary assistance and provided free transportations to reach their respective places. —Yar Say (IPRD)/GNLM
