Over 1,000 pilgrims across Myanmar visited Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda Festival in Sagu Township in Minbu District of Magway Region on a daily basis, according to the Shwesettaw Pagoda Board of Trustees.
There were tens of thousands of pilgrims in previous years of the festival period in Taboung and Tagu. But this year, the number of pilgrims has declined due to the COVID-19 and Omicron outbreak.
“Over 1,000 pilgrims enter the Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda Festival in a day although they are allowed to enter after checking their vaccinated certificates,” said U Tun Wai, vice-chairman of the Shwesettaw Pagoda Board of Trustees.
Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda is opened this year from the 5th Waxing of Tabodwe up to the first day of the Myanmar New Year. Visitors are allowed only with vaccinated certificates, household lists and COVID-19 tests. — Zeya Htet (Minbu)/GNLM
