Over 1,700,000 acres of monsoon paddy grown in Sagaing this year

The monsoon paddy is started growing in the third week of June. So far, about 1,798,003 acres of monsoon paddy have been grown in the region.

Farmers in the Sagaing region have cultivated about 1,798,000 acres of monsoon paddy, according to Region Agriculture Department.
In the 2020-21 financial year (FY), the department targeted to grow 1,825,000 acres of monsoon paddy in 11 districts of the Sagaing region.
The monsoon paddy is started growing in the third week of June. So far, about 1,798,003 acres of monsoon paddy have been grown in the region.
“This year, we targeted to grow over 1.8 million acres of monsoon paddy in the Sagaing region. We have cultivated over 1.7 million acres of monsoon paddy so far. The remaining acres of paddy will be cultivated as soon as possible,” said U Aung Kyi Win, the deputy head of the Sagaing Region Agriculture Department.
This year, the department grew 33,471 acres of paddy in Sagaing district, 63,326 acres in Monywa district, 97,203 acres in Yinmabin district, 672,773 acres in Shwebo district, 182,633 acres in Kanbalu district, 163,503 acres in Katha district, 199,823 acres in Kawlin district, 179,510 acres in Kalay district, 67,240 acres in Mawlaik district, 49,472 acres in Tamu district, 63,369 acres in Hkamti district and 25,680 acres in Naga Self-administered zone.
