Over K160 bln allocated for hydropower projects this FY

Over K160 billion will be spent on hydropower projects in the 2023-2024 financial year, according to the Budget Department.
The projects to be implemented in the 2023-2024 financial year are the Shweli-3 Hydropower Project, the Thahtay Hydropower Project, and the Upper Kengtawng Hydropower Project.
In addition, a total of K1.449 billion will be spent on the survey of new hydropower projects, K230.364 billion on substations and power cable lines, 127.350 billion on electricity supply and K2.747 billion on the maintenance of dams and hydropower plants.
It is known that, in the financial year 2023-2024, over K3,380 billion will be spent on the electricity sector. — TWA/MKKS
