The meeting between Myanmar and Thai authorities to reopen the Friendship Bridge No 1.

According to the meeting held on 24 May between the authorities of Myanmar and Thailand, the date of the reopening of the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge No 1 will be announced only after the national-level presentation.
Thailand has decided to reopen the bridge and it is only up to the Myanmar side to decide, according to the Thai media. At the meeting, the two sides agreed on compliance with the COVID-19 rules and regulations while passing the border, and the travellers must provide that they have been vaccinated twice by showing the vaccination certificate recognized by the Ministry of Health.
Myanmar people will only be allowed to stay for two nights and three days in Mae Sai in Thailand, and Thai citizens will be allowed to make a day trip to Tachilek. The meeting also approved that Myanmar people will not be able to go to Chiang Rai like before, and Thai people will not be able to pass the Mai Yan gate.
At the meeting, it was agreed that the opening date would be announced only after the Myanmar side submitted a national report. — TWA/GNLM
