Rioters attack health officers in Hinthada Township, Ayeyawady region

Rioters attacked a combined team consisting of members of the security forces and health officers from the Department of Public Health in Zalun Township, Ayeyawady Region, while they were on the way to Thaduchaung village to attend the opening ceremony of Thadu station hospital and to meet the locals for the COVID-19 vaccination at around 8:30 am on 7 April.
About 200 yards before reaching the Byaezingone village, Hinthada Township, about 200 rioters opened fire with handmade guns to the boat of the combined team.
Due to the attack, the boat had to be beached, and the rioters were demanded to disperse the crowd. Finally, the security forces had to disassemble the masses by the riot-control procedures when the rioters accelerated the attack with slingshots, fire bottles and handmade guns. Three men were detained during the riot. Their weapons used in the riot were also seized, and investigations are underway to take effective actions against those who led the riot. — MNA
