SAC Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing talks about peace issues with Vice-Chairman of United Wa State Party (UWSP) U Lau Yaku

Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received a peace delegation led by Vice-Chairman of the United Wa State Party (UWSP) U Lau Yaku at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning to talk about peace issues.
Also present at the talks were Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Council members General Mya Tun Oo, Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun and Lt-Gen Yar Pyae. The Vice-Chairman of the United Wa State Party (UWSP) was accompanied by Deputy Head of External Relations Division U Pauk Aik Kaw and In-charge of Lashio Liaison Office of External Relations Division U Nyi Yan.
The Senior General explained that it is necessary to consider the requirements of the State, the needs of local ethnic nationals and the development of the region and the country as restoration of peace can reflect the smooth and swift region and nation-building tasks. Only when cooperation covers the prevalence of peace and stability, education and health sectors will it contribute much towards regional development. Moreover, the Senior General clarified exercising the multiparty democracy in conformity with the people’s desires, and the issues of building the Union based on democracy and federalism.
The Vice-Chairman of the United Wa State Party (UWSP) and the delegation discussed the agreement of the United Wa State Party (UWSP) over practising the multiparty democratic system and building the Union based on democracy and federalism and its same attitudes and reported on regional development. Then, they frankly discussed both sides’ views on peace issues, education, health and regional development tasks.
The Senior General presented gifts to the Vice-Chairman and party of UWSP who returned domestic gifts. Then, they posed for documentary photos.
The Vice-Chairman of the United Wa State Party (UWSP) and party plan to continue further discussions on peace talks with the Peace Talks Team and the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee formed with members of the State Administration Council. — MNA
