Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing visited flood victims in Shwekyin Township, Bago Region, yesterday.
Flooding in Shwekyin Township has force local residents to seek shelter in flood relief centers in ShwetaungOo Pagoda in Gantgaw Wine Ward, the basic education high school, and in the Thaminewin Payargyi Pagoda’s compound.
The Senior General and Tatmadaw officials cordially greeted local residents and provided then with food supplies, then inspected the mobile military medical team as they provided healthcare to the local residents.
The Senior General then paid homage to the Buddha image inside the Taminewin Payargyi Pagoda.
Floods in Shwekyin Twsp forced 27,266 residents from 5,768 households from eight wards and forty-two villages to relocate to safer areas till 30 July.
Temporary flood relief centres have been set up in five locations in Shwekyin Township and in the forty-two villages. Reports also show that 25,500 acres out of the 34,867 acres of farmland for monsoon crops have been damaged due to the floods. —Myanmar News Agency
