“The Only Mom” becomes first Myanmar film to be premiered on Netflix

Thai director Chartchai Ketnust, who shot the Myanmar film “The Only Mom,” said that the film was allowed to screen for the first time on a movie application, Netflix.
The Brave Empire Film Production presented the film “The Only Mom” in 2019. The film was directed by Thai director Chartchai Ketnust, and Naing Nai, Wutt Hmone Shwe Yi, Daung, and child actor Pyae Pyae, acted in the film.
An official from the Myanmar Motion Picture Organization said that although the organization was not aware of the permission to show “The Only Mom” on Netflix, the production company has the right to sell its films outside.
“The Only Mom” is a film that was shown not only in Myanmar but also in other Asian countries such as Thailand, Singapore, Viet Nam, and other countries.
“The Only Mom” film was described as one of the scariest horror films in Myanmar and received good reviews for the talents of the actors along with the filmmaking, sound, and background music.
The film “The Only Mom” earned K1,000 million at the box office within nine days of its release and was considered the highest-grossing Myanmar film of all time. Now, it has earned US$4.8 million worldwide and is a successful Myanmar film.
“The Only Mom” film won six regional awards at the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2019 held in Singapore and is the first Myanmar film to be shown on a film application, Netflix, which has achieved great international success. — TC/CT
