Two Heavy Industry 2 cement factories set for upgrade

According to the statement from Heavy Industry 2, plans are underway to upgrade No 31 Cement Factory (Thayet) and No 32 Cement Factory (Kyangin). Director-General U Than Zaw Htay of Heavy Industry 2 mentioned that the upgrade process involves a collaboration through the Public-Private Partnership system (PPP).
“No 31 Cement Factory (Thayet) and No 32 Cement Factory (Kyangin) have temporarily ceased operations to transition from the uneconomical wet method to the cost-effective dry method. Additionally, new production lines are being constructed within the factory,” he added.
Heavy Industry 2 and a private company are producing Alpha Cement. Out of the country’s 19 public and private cement factories, 11 factories are operational, producing 8,123,570 tonnes of cement during the 2022-2023 financial year. — ASH/TRKM
