According to the Department of Archeology and National Museums (Mandalay Branch), the repair and construction works will be implemented expeditiously to make the U Bein Bridge sustainable.
The bridge is situated in Amarapura Township, Mandalay Region.
In collaboration with the Forest Department, the Mandalay Regional Government’s Repair and Construction Committee will form five teams to carry out these repair works, each of which will be responsible for 96 bridge spans.
The repair of the bridge will be carried out as soon as possible, using the funds from the development and other projects of the Mandalay Region Government.
Due to the crowded visitors to the bridge on 29 October (Full Moon Day of Thadingyut), two panels on the east side of the bridge broke down, causing many injuries, and officials repaired it within three days. — TWA/KZL
