Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi holds meeting at Forestry & Environmental Science University

The MoNREC Union Minister meets the Rector, the Pro-Rector, professors and instructors from the University of Forestry and Environmental Science in Yezin yesterday.

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi inaugurated the extended department building of office building (19) yesterday morning in Nay Pyi Taw.
The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Minister U Min Min Oo, the Permanent Secretary and officials from the departments.
Afterwards, the Union Minister and party met the Rector, the Pro-Rector, professors and faculty members from the University of Forestry and Environmental Science and the directors and research officers from the Forest Research Department in Yezin.
During the meeting, the Union Minister said the role of the university and the department of forest research is vital as they are conducting forest conservation and plantation establishment as a national duty.
He continued the University of Forestry and Environmental Science is essential for human resource development. The Forest Research Department is responsible for researching locally adapted species, to prevent pests caused by climate change. It is necessary to research agricultural methods systematically and apply them for plantation establishment.

He added the need to set up research centres across the country, and arrangements need to be made to generate widespread and effective research results. The university aims to stand as a standard university that can provide environmental conservation and forestry education and research and services.
Policies are being implemented to develop a national curriculum in line with the national education policy and cooperate in teaching and research activities in collaboration with local and foreign organizations. They should create a suitable environment for an international university and enhance the capacity and teaching of teachers to send scholars to international universities to improve the quality of teachers continuously.
A total of 2,682 males and 340 females were graduated from the University of Forestry and Environmental Science. The university was founded in 1923 and has maintained good traditions to date. At the meeting, teaching programmes of the university were discussed, and the Union Minister, the Deputy Minister, the Permanent Secretary and the Director-General coordinated the meeting. — MNA
