Nay Pyi Taw, 2 March — Vice President U Nyan Tun attended the ceremony marking Peasants’ Day at Myanmar International Convention Centre (2) in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday, and presented certificates in recognition of international organizations, companies and individuals who advanced the interests of farm workers.
The vice president, who is also the leader of the Organization for Protection and Promotion of Peasants Interests, first viewed farm equipment provided by Japan International Cooperation Agency and booths of vegetables and fruits at the centre.
The vice president then read out a Peasants’ Day message from President U Thein Sein.
The vice president, Union Ministers U Myint Hlaing, U Soe Maung, U Kyaw Hsan, U Ohn Myint, U Zeyar Aung and U Win Myint presented certificates of honour to the organizations, companies and individuals.
Then, Chairman of Myanmar Music Association (Central) announced the winners of a song competition marking
the day.
The vice president and the union ministers presented prizes to the winners of the song competition, the vegetables and fruits competitions and posed for documentary photos with attendees and prize winners.
After the ceremony, the vice president and party warmly greeted farming representatives from various ethnic groups.
Present at the ceremony were representatives of farm workers from regions and states including the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.—MNA
