YBS QR Code payment to be launched in late December

YBS QR Code payment system which enables passengers to pay bus fares using mobile phone will be launched in late December, said U Lyan Cin Mang, joint secretary of Yangon Region Public Transport Committee (YRTC).

Users can search and download MP yps on Google Play Store and use after registered and prepaid. This system will make passengers and reduce the shortage of notes.

“This QR code system can be available late this month. Data collection is in progress. Passengers can use by installing the app in their phone, in place of YPS card system,” he said.

Currently, YPS card system has been used on some YBS bus lines though machines are not working and bus fares is collected by drivers, said passengers.

“QR code payment system is good because we don’t need to worry about note problem anymore and avoid overcharge. I welcome this system,” said a YBS passenger.

At the present, more than 130 YBS bus lines are running in Yangon with more than 3000 buses to commute up to 1.5 million passengers every day. MT/ZS
