The press conference for the 2024 Paris Olympic Women’s Soccer Asian Zone Qualifiers (First Round) which will be hosted by Myanmar was held at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon yesterday morning.
Head coaches and responsible persons of teams Myanmar and Iran attended the event.
The Myanmar team and the Iran team will play on 5 and 8 April at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon at 4 pm Myanmar time.
The team with the most points in two games will qualify for the second round of the Asian Zone qualifiers for the 2024 Paris Olympic Women’s Football Tournament.
If the score is the same after playing two games, after the match on 8 April, overtime will be played for 30 minutes.
If there is no result of winning or losing, the penalty decision must be taken.
“In the beginning, we had to play three group matches, so we prepared carefully how to play in each of the upcoming matches during the training trip in China. With the withdrawal of Maldives and Bangladesh, the focus will be on the match against Iran.
“We will prepare to win the first match against Iran. For the second match, we will play based on the result of the first match. Iran is also a good team, so we cannot underestimate them. We will try to make our fans happy and satisfied”, said Myanmar team head coach Daw Thet Thet Win.
Myanmar will host the 2024 Paris Olympic women’s football tournament in the first round of the Asian zone qualifiers, where the hosts Myanmar, Iran, Bangladesh and the Maldives were drawn earlier.
Since the Moldovan team, and Bangladesh withdrew from the tournament, the host Myanmar team will only play against the Iranian team, and the winning team will advance to the second round of the Asian zone qualifiers.
“I would like to thank the Myanmar Football Federation for the best hospitality when visiting Myanmar.
“The Myanmar team is a good team and has good players, so it will be difficult. Our team has both newcomers and experienced players, so we expect a good result.
“We have also watched and studied the matches played by the Myanmar team on video. It could be a difficult match for both teams”, said Iran women’s football team head coach Maryam Azmoon. — Nyein Thu (MNA)/KZL
