In Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, basic education schools temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic were reopened yesterday morning for the 2021-2022 Academic Year following COVID-19 rules and regulations.
Medical workers and teachers make efforts to ensure students wear masks and face shields, handwash and temperature checks to prevent the COVID-19 disease infection under the Ministry of Health and Sports guidelines.
No (5) Basic Education High School of Nay Pyi Taw, which is reportedly 90.3%, has adopted double-shift schooling for the current academic year.
“For the current academic year, we operate the school in two shifts, and all major and optional subjects will be taught.
“Our teachers are ready to teach. We are working hard to produce disciplined and well-mannered children throughout the school year,” the headmaster said.
The Government has also provided free textbooks and learning materials, and COVID-19 protective gears such as reusable masks and face shields to the students and the exemption of the enrolment fees.
Officials from the Ministry of Education also arranged the classrooms according to the COVID-19 guidelines and school bus in systematically reopening the schools.
Parents are also happy for schools reopening with the proper COVID-19 preventive measures and the security assistance by a combination of community-based security groups and the Myanmar Police Force to ensure a peaceful education.
“I am so happy that schools reopen, and I feel safe for children to see that reopening is being systematically implemented in line with the COVID-19 prevention and control system.
“Myanmar Police Force is also providing security around the school,” said a mother of a student from No (6) Basic Education High School, Nay Pyi Taw.
There are a total of 859 schools, including 28 monastic education schools and 74 private schools in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory. — Lu Lin Nge/GNLM
