The XXXI South East Asian (SEA) Games was originally planned to hold with forty kinds of sports in 12 cities in Viet Nam from 21 October to 2 December 2021 but the tourney has been postponed to next year amid the global outbreak of the pandemic, said SEA Games officials.
It was decided at the SEAGF Office meeting held by video conferencing on 8 July that the rescheduling date would be announced again.
The meeting decided to hold the SEA Games in 2022 and proposed to hold the event from the last week of April to the first week of May, but the host Viet Nam replied that they would approve the proposal after submitting it to their government.
“Although 40 sports will be included in the competition, Myanmar will compete in only 18 potential sporting medals. Although 529 medals will be awarded for 40 sports, Myanmar will only compete for 281 medals for 18 sports,” said officials from the Department of Sports and Physical Education. — GNLM
