The Ministry of Commerce is making efforts to ensure people have access to the essential medical supplies that are critical to the COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities, including liquid oxygen and oxygen cylinders, arranging continuous importation on public holidays.
On 25 September (yesterday), anti-COVID-19 equipment, medical products, including oxygen plants and concentrators, were imported by five companies and transported by six vehicles, including two bowsers.
A total of 40 tonnes of oxygen (liquid) carried by two bowsers, 430 empty oxygen cylinders, three oxygen plants and four tonnes of masks were imported via Chinshwehaw, and Myawady trading posts and seaports.
Two vehicles carrying liquid oxygen were transported to Yangon.
Out of three oxygen plants, two were transported to Yangon, another one to Bilin, respectively.
From 1 to 25 September, 470 vehicles carrying 708 tonnes of liquid oxygen bowser, 127 tonnes of liquid oxygen, 40 tonnes of oxygen gas, four storage containers, one liquid oxygen distributor, 94,650 empty oxygen cylinders, 247 oxygen plants, two oxygen refiling machines for hospitals, 18 oxygen generators, 12,647 oxygen concentrators for home use, 70,000 test kits, 1,000,000 sets of PPE, 122 tonnes of gloves and 2,536 tonnes of masks were allowed to be imported from 250 companies.
In the same period, a total of 36 oxygen-carrying bowsers were allowed to be transported.
Among the 36 vehicles, 26 vehicles were transported to Yangon, four to Mandalay, two to Mawlamyine, and two to Bago, and one each to Monywa and Pyay respectively.
Out of 248 oxygen plants, 190 oxygen plants to Yangon, 14 to Mandalay, three to Pakkoku, three to Chauk, two to Lashio, two to Minbu, two to Maubin, another two to PyinOoLwin and one each to Mawlamyine and Monywa, respectively.
Myitkyina, Moegaung, Myinmu, Dedaye, Mudon, Pyay, Meiktila, Myaungmya, Wynemaw, Tachilek, Mohnyin, Kangyidaung, Phakant, Aunglan, Kawa, Singu, Myine, Gangaw, Htantalan, Tantyang, Paenwegon, Nyaung Shwe, Hakha, Kyaukphyu, Patheingyi, Thazi, Momeik and Amarapura were successfully transported.
Officials from the relevant departments are cooperating to facilitate and expedite the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including online registration for the import process.
