9,000 oil lamps offered to Shwezigon Pagoda in Bagan-NyaungU Archaeological Zone

A total of 9,000 oil lamps were offered to Shwesigon Pagoda, which is located in the Bagan-NyaungU Archaeological Zone on the evening of 20 October (Fullmoon of Thadingyut Lighting Festival or Abhidhamma Day).
“At this pagoda, oil lamps are offered by devotees from all over Myanmar on special occasions.
“On the full moon of Thadingyut (Abhidhamma Day), the Shwezigon Pagoda Board of Trustees donated 5,000 oil lamps to the pagoda”, said U Than Myint Aung, head of the Pagoda Board of Trustees.

Likewise, devotees also donated oil lamps to Alotawpyae Pagoda, Dhammayangyi Pagoda, Lawkananda Pagoda, Thatbinnyu Pagoda, Ananda Pagoda, Shwe Gu Gyi Pagoda, Ingyin Pagoda, Bu Pagoda, Shwesandaw Pagoda, Shin Issa Gawna Pagoda, Sulamani Pagoda, Ywarhaung Gyi Pagoda, Nagayone Pagoda, Abe Yadanar Pagoda, Soe Mingyi Pagoda, Sinmyarshin Pagoda, DhammaYarzika Pagoda and Htilominlo Pagoda on the occasion of the Thadingyut festival.
On the first day of the full moon of Thidingyut, a thousand oil lamps will be offered to the Shwezigon Pagoda, according to the Pagoda Board of Trustees. — Ko Htein (KPD)/GNLM
