MoALI holds meeting to boost agricultural productivity in Rakhine State

In the evening, the team left for Insein Township, Yangon Region the Union minister inspected the fishery value chains of the General Food Technology Industry Co. Ltd which exports the shrimp and squid to Japan, Europe and Australia.

A coordination meeting to enhance productivity in agro-based industries was convened at the office of the Rakhine State government on 24 January 2022.
Union Minister U Tin Htut Oo for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Rakhine State Chief Minister Dr Aung Kyaw Min and relevant ministers, directors-general and township-level department officials attended the meeting.
They discussed matters related to meeting the rice production target, using high-producing pedigree crops, having systematic drainage, opening the maintenance and workshop of agricultural equipment, collaborating with the private sector for farm machinery service, multi-cropping, encouraging the growers to farm commercially the most profitable plants such as perennial palms, mango and coffee beans, expansion of fish, shrimp and crab farming, larval rearing and maintenance, growing livestock feed, development of cattle breeding, establishing the industrial zones with good infrastructure, implementation of diploma in livestock and vocational training in fishery and farm machinery at Kyauktaw Institute of Agriculture at the meeting.
Later, the Union minister inspected the surveillance of inshore and offshore fishing trawlers at the Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) Sub-Control Centre of Rakhine State Fisheries Department to ensure that the vessels comply with vessels monitoring rules set by the Fisheries Department under the existing laws.
