Many cases of robberies occurred on the YBS bus in Yangon that have not yet been installed with CCTV.
According to the YRTC, in order to reduce the incidents and re-examine the perpetrators of the crime, CCTVs are being installed on YBS vehicles at present.
In the second week of November, YRTC Joint Secretary U Lyan Cint Mang said that Yangon Region Private Transportation Supervision Committee (YRTC) and the nearest police stations should be contacted as soon as possible in order for the cooperation of the police and to investigate and take action against pickpocketing and robbery on passenger YBS vehicles.
The officials of YRTC are working together with the relevant township officials and the traffic control and supervision committee to ensure traffic safety.
In doing so, free distribution of traffic law awareness pamphlets, extensive awareness of traffic laws and regulations is being carried out by relevant officials.
The YBS 28 bus line under the management of YUPT Public Co, Ltd, which previously ran from Dagon University to Sule, has a convenient view as it has installed Streamax Technology CCTVs with Video Decoding and Online View System.
There are at least 800,000 to 1 million passengers travelling by bus in Yangon every day. There are 166 bus lines and more than 3,000 vehicles in operation.—TWA/GNLM
