Government approves US$16 million to buy ART

The US$16 million has been approved for the purchase of ART drugs and medications to the Ministry of Health in the financial year 2022-2023, according to the announcement of the Ministry of Health on 1 December, World AIDS Day.
With Myanmar implementing efforts on HIV/AIDS control activities as the national response, the government’s supporting funding has significantly increased every year.
There are over 190,000 HIV/AIDS-infected patients have been treated with ART through joint programmes on AIDS and venereal disease which are cooperated by locals and international friendship organizations under the supervision of the Health Ministry, according to the statement stated until the end of 2021.
About 90 per cent of HIV/AIDS patients received treatments at the ART centres under the Ministry of Health, and the treatment and care are being carried out, it is learnt. — TWA/GNLM
