Most renowned Anyeint dancer Shwe Leikpyar Ma Aye Kyi passes away

Famous Anyeint performer (female lead dancer) Shwe Leikpyar (golden butterfly) Ma Aye Kyi died at Yangon General Hospital on the evening of 11 October, according to U Nay Win, secretary of Myanmar Theatrical Association (Central).
The 97-year-old female lead Ma Aye Kyi is a Patron of the association and is an eligible theatrical artiste for the respect-paying ceremony.
“She has been suffering from age-related diseases for years and she died yesterday. She is getting older. She can live up to this age due to the care of her family members. She is a patron of our association. She was the second oldest person when Ba Ba U Shwe Nan Tin passed away. She is very well-known among the people of her time. She made videos to hand over her theatrical performance skills in the programmes of Chairman Ko Phoe Chit. The death of our patron is a great loss and she is irreplaceable,” he said.
The funeral occasion will be held at Hteinbin Cemetery at 2 pm on 13 October in Yangon. — ASH/KTZH
