The Central Body of Private Health Services has reported that 37 private health businesses were taken action over a period of three years.
Between 2021 and 2023, action was taken against 37 businesses found to be in violation of licensing regulations and administrative measures, as revealed during the meeting 2/2024 convened by the Central Body of Private Health Services.
According to the body, nationwide approvals have been granted to 287 private hospitals, 41 delivery rooms, 75 specialized laboratories, 18 specialized x-ray rooms, four nursing homes, eight mobile health services, 19 health agencies, and 19 general health services.
Efforts are underway to ensure that providers of healthcare services in the private health sector obtain valid licences and comply with existing laws. To this end, the Myanmar Medical Council, Myanmar Dental Council, and Myanmar Nursing and Midwifery Council, among others, are collaborating and verifying credentials. At the same time, policies are being formulated to optimize the utilization of human resources.
Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win has emphasized that private health businesses failing to adhere to the terms and conditions of their licences will face legal action in accordance with existing laws and regulations. Additionally, relevant authorities are actively encouraging private health businesses to apply for permits, while the Central Body of Private Health Services remains committed to the ongoing development and enforcement of regulations for the advancement of private health services. — TWA/TKO
