Action is being taken against 60 undisciplined taxis and cars parked at bus stops in Yangon, according to the Yangon Region Transport Committee (YRTC).
The vehicles were arrested while parking in the designated yellow box. Relevant road safety oversight teams have been conducting education campaigns since January 2022 to not stop or park at YBS bus stops for too long.
“There is no place for a bus to stop at bus stops because the taxi is parked. Even in the city centre such as at the Bogyoke Market, passengers have to go in the middle of the road to take a bus. Effective actions are required,” U Htein Lin, a resident in Pazundaung township told GNLM.
While arresting undisciplined cars under the law, the vehicle number and the arrested date will be recorded exactly and sent to the traffic police in respective townships. — TWA/GNLM
