Additional statistical bulletin on drug seizures, acting on information

1. In order to prevent and eradicate the dangers of narcotic drugs and psychotropic drugs, the Office of the President has formed the Drug Activity Special Complaint Department on 26 June 2018 to systematically accept and respond to reports on drug abuses and other related cases from the general public.
2. With orders from the Office of the President, the Drug Activity Special Complaint Department relayed information on reports on drug-related offences up to 5 September 2020 to the Ministry of Home Affairs to take action, as displayed below:

1.Information received of Kyaw Lwin who lives in Sinbokone Village in Mohnyin Township, Kachin State, distributing and selling illegal drugs.On 31 August 2020, police searched the house of Kyaw Lwin, 41, son of U Ba Nyan, who lives in Sinbokone Village, Mohnyin Township and arrested him together with ‘‘88/1”stimulant tablets and heroin.

A case has been opened against him with MaMaSa (Mohnyin)MaYa(pa)147/2020 under Section 19(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

2.Information received of Than Moe who lives in Kinn Sann Village in Ye U Township, Sagaing Region, distributing and selling illegal drugs.On 30 August 2020, police stopped the motorbike of Than Moe, 39, son of U Sein Maung, who lives in Kinn Sann Village in Ye U Township, on the village road of Aout Kae Zin Village and Latmahtaung Village and arrested him together with WY stimulant tablets and heroin.

A case has been opened against him with NaMaSa ( Tin Tein Yan) MaYa(Pa)2/2020 under Section 16 (c) and 20(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

3.Information received of Khin Maung Lwin who lives in Tha Ngar Village in Phaungpyin Township, Sagaing Region, distributing and selling illegal drugs.On 4 September 2020, police searched the house of Khin Maung Lwin, 41, son of U Maung Sein, who lives in Tha Ngar Village in Phaungpyin Township and did not find him and instead arrested his wife Ma Aye Aye Thin, 41, daughter of U San Aung, together with heroin.

 

A case has been opened against her with MaMaSa (Phaungpyin) MaYa(Pa) 160/2020 under Section 16(c) and 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

4.Information received of Daw Htay Myint who lives in Gyone Gyone Kya Village in Indaw Township, Sagaing Region, distributing and selling illegal drugs.On 4 September 2020, police searched the house of Daw Htay Myint, 42, daughter of U Aung, who lives in Gyone Gyone Kya Village in Indaw Township, and arrested her together with heroin.

A case has been opened against her with MaMaSa (Indaw) MaYa(pa)156/2020 under Section 16(c)  of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

5.Information received of many people from Aung Thu Kha Ward in Kawthoung Town, Taninthayi Region, using, distributing and selling illegal drugs.There were 24 cases opened against 28 people (24 males and 4 females) who were arrested together with stimulant tablets, ICEs and speciose previous weeks.

On 30 August 2020, according to a series of previous arrests, police searched the house of Ye Min Oo, 30, son of U Than Zaw Oo, who lives on Anawyahtar Road, Aung Thu Kha Ward in Kawthoung and arrested him together with WY stimulant tablets.

A case has been opened against him with MaMaSa
(Kawthoung) MaYa (Pa) 178/2020 under Section 19(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

6.Information received of Ko Myo who lives in Ma Pu Tay Village in Kawthoung, Taninthayi Region, distributing and selling illegal drugs.On 4 September 2020, police searched the house of Ko Myo (a) Thant Zaw Moe, 33, son of U Khin Hlaing and arrested him and Chit San Maung, 21, son of U Zaw Myo, Khin Maung Latt, 24, son of U Than Soe and Nay Lin Htun(a) Armin, 24, son of U Min Htun who all live in the same village, together with WY stimulant tablets.

The cases have been opened against them with MaMaSa (Kawthoung) MaYa (Pa) 180/2020 under Section 19(a), 20(a) and 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

7.Information received of distribution and selling in Tha Byay Pin gold mining block in Yamethin Township, Mandalay Region.On 5 September 2020, police searched the house of Ma Wint Nandar Aung, 22, daughter of U Lu Chaw, who lives in Shwe Mine Myo Village ( Tha Byay Pin gold mining block) in Yamethin Township and arrested her together with ‘‘88/1” stimulant tablets.

A case has been opened against her with MaMaSa (Yamethin) MaYa(Pa)32/2020 under Section 19(a) and 20(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

8.Information received of many people who are distributing, selling and using illegal drugs under the Aung Ze Ya bridge in Kan Nar (west) Ward, Insein Township, Yangon Region.On 4 September 2020, police searched the house of Myo Hlaing, 52, son of U Sein Hlaing, who lives under the Aung Ze Ya bridge in Kan Nar (west) Ward, Insein Township, and arrested him with WY stimulant tablets.

A case has been opened against him with MaMaSa (Innsein) MaYa(Pa) 152/2020 under Section 16(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

9.Information received of Kyi Kyi Maw who lives in Hmaw Sat Ward in Dala Township, Yangon Region, selling and distributing illegal drugs.On 4 September 2020, police searched the house of Ma Kyi Kyi Maw (a) San San Kyi, 28, daughter of U Kyi Lay, who lives in Hmaw Sat Ward in Dala Township and arrested her with her husband Thet Naung (a) Naung Naung, 29, son of U Saw Naung, together with WY stimulant tablets.

A case has been opened against them  with MaMaSa (Dala) MaYa(Pa) 34/2020 under Section 19(a), 20(a) and 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

10Information received of Kaung Khant Kyaw (a) Kaung Kaung who lives in No.18 Ward, in Hlinethaya Township, Yangon, using, distributing and selling the illegal drugs.On 4 September 2020, police searched the house of Kaung Khant Kyaw (a) Kaung Kaung, 22, son of U Kyaw Soe, who lives in No.18 Ward, in Hlinethaya Township (West) and arrested him and Lin Lin Htun, 21, son of U Soe Lay together with WY stimulant tablets.

The police continued searching the house of Ma Yamin Soe, 22, daughter of U Soe Min Khaing, who lives in the same ward. Although there were anything related with the drugs, the cases have been opened against them with NaMaSa( Thaungyi) MaYa(Pa) 79/2020 under Section 19(a), 22(b) and 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

11Information received of Ma Aye who lives in San Laung Village, Hsipaw Township in Nothern Shan State, selling and distributing illegal drugs.On 2 September 2020, police searched the house of Ma Aye who lives in San Laung Village in Hsipaw Township and didn’t find her but arrested Aeik Mum, 22, son of U Aeik Hta, who lives in the same village and Saing Phay, 27, son of U Aeik Htun, who lives in Khainglon Village, together with WY stimulant tablets.

A case has been opened against them with MaMaSa(Hsipaw) MaYa(Pa) 57/2020 under Section 19 (a) and 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

3. Out of the information sent to the Drug Activity Special Complaint Department, so far a total of 1,320 cases have been opened files as of 5 September 2020. A total of 2,022 people, including 1,688 men and 334 women had been arrested with 10,408.4194 g of heroin, 1,435.42 g of ICE, 47,187.22886 g of opium, 1,367.96 g of low-quality opium, 53,363.76 g of speciosa powder, 51,097.32 g of speciosa, 2.5 litres of liquid speciosa, 668,401 stimulant tablets, 14713.48 g of marijuana, 0.1 litres of opium tincture, 630.28 g of opium blocks, 60 g of poppy seeds, 60.15 g of crushed stimulant tablet powder, 0.001 g of crushed ecstasy powder, 27 firearms, different kinds of 609 cartridges and one grenade. Efforts for fighting the drug trafficking has been stepped up and the department will report on further exposed cases.
4. To seize further drugs and to arrest drugs dealers, people are urged to inform the Ministry of Home Affairs, region and state governments and to inform huge cases of drug trafficking and other suspicious cases directly to the Drug Activity Special Complaint Department of the Office of the President via following contact numbers:
