Nay Pyi Taw, 10 May — As supply of electricity contributes to development of industries by creating job opportunities for local residents, it needs to efficiently use electricity in their works, Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw U Khin Aung Myint told the ceremony to launch electrification on a self-reliant basis in Kyanbin Village, Yamethin Township, on Sunday.
Abbot of Kyinbin Monastery Bhaddanta Vimala, Speaker U Khin Aung Myint, Pyithu Hluttaw MP U Bo Ni and transformer donor U Maung Aung formally opened the signboard of self-reliant electrification.
In implementing the whole Yamethin Township power supply project, the local authorities arranged to supply electricity to 158 villages of 246 in the township. Power lines were installed from the power grid to 53 villages.
The speaker also unveiled the signboard of supplying electricity in Htantaw and Chaunggwa villages.
While in Yamethin, the speaker visited the examination of Buddhist cultural course at Technological University (Yamethin) and Sasana Beikman held on 9 and 10 May.
A total of 4,969 students took the Buddhist cultural exam at primary level while 1,422 students took the exam at middle school level.
The speaker presented K300,000 for three prize winners at the primary level and K450,000 for three winners at the middle school level.MNA
