The Customs on-duty teams under the supervision of the Customs Department made inspections on 20, 25 and 26 September and confiscated two kinds of goods worth about K3.3 million, including 38 iron cabinets, from a container at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint, four kinds of goods worth K24.3 million, including iPhone and Apple watch, without official documents from luggage at the Yangon International Airport (Import Desk), 102 sets of Oppo A36 mobile phones (used) worth K10.2 million without official documents from a vehicle travelling from Laukkai to Lashio at the Yepu permanent checkpoint and a Nissan Diesel tractor head with a trailer (approximately worth K45 million), headed from Myawady to Yangon, carrying 5,000 kilogrammes of PP woven bag worth K5.94 million that exceeded the quantity mentioned in the Import Declaration (ID) at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 25 September, the combined inspection teams seized a Hino Profia truck (estimated value of K40 million) carrying 3,600 litres of vegetable oil worth K9.8 million without official documents at the Thanlwin Bridge (Mawlamyine) checkpoint and a Hino PR1JJB bus (estimated value of K20 million), headed from Mandalay to Muse, carrying 550 kilogrammes of dried beef worth K3.3 million without official documents at the 16th-Mile Kyaukchaw checkpoint. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
The combined inspection teams captured a Luigondg excavator, a Komatsu excavator and a Kubota excavator that were used in the illegal mining work in Mayan Village in Khamaukgyi of Kawthaung District and a total of 0.432 tonne of illegal teak and 1.908 tonnes of illegal other timbers worth K604,140 in Toungoo District on 26 September. The action was taken under Customs procedures and the Forest Law.
As a result, a total of 15 arrests were made on 20, 25 and 26 September, with an estimated value of K292,445,340, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
