The vehicles installed with infrared thermal detection units have carried out coronavirus testing in North Okkalapa Township, Yangon Region yesterday.
With the directives from Yangon Region government, the region’s public health department and Township committee for COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment organized the mobile test programme to detect and combat the spread of coronavirus.
Dr Ohma Sein, head of North Okkalapa Township’s public health department, said, “There are two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our township. Mobile tests are mainly carried out in the wards they stay.”
“We take body temperatures based on the data which were collected in advance. By doing so, we will quickly provide treatments by detecting early the suspected cases of COVID-19,” she added.
Mobile medical teams including healthcare workers, officials, Hluttaw representatives and civil society organizations tested a total of 12,098 individuals from 2,633 households in North Okkalapa Township in the vehicles installed with infrared thermal detection units yesterday.
Of them, 6,898 persons of 1,514 households are from San Pya (Ga) Ward and 5, 200 of 1,119 households are from (Tatalingeik) Ward in North Okkalapa Township.
U Aung Aung Moe, the leader of San Pya (Ga) Ward, said, “We has informed the people in our ward in advance to receive the tests. Almost all people came and received the test.” Along with the mobile tests, COVID-19 awareness campaigns were also being carried out in the township. In Yangon Region, mobile tests were carried out in the streets and wards where confirmed cases of COVID-19 were found. The townships with high coronavirus confirmed cases in Yangon Region are Insein, Mayangon, Tamway and Hlinethaya. People in Hlegu Township were also tested in similar mobile units yesterday, according to the Yangon Region’s health department. —Zaw Gyi (Translated by Kyaw Zin Tun)
