Development of ASEAN plans crucial for eradicating illicit drugs

Collaborative efforts of all global countries are of great importance in solving the problems of narcotic drugs most of them are facing at present, said Police Brig-Gen Win Naing, Head of Drug Enforcement Division under the Myanmar Police Force, who is also in the capacity of Joint Secretary of Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control of Myanmar.
He made a speech at the second virtual workshop on ASEAN Project Development for ASEAN Senior Officials on Drug Control held at the office of the Nay Pyi Taw Drug Enforcement Division on 1 February.
He expressed his belief that today’s meeting hosted by Myanmar would cement the cooperative strengths to solve the challenges triggered by illicit drugs as well as would be a good contribution to implementing the ASEAN Work Plan on Securing Communities Against Illicit Drugs 2016-2025 and the effective eradication of drugs in the region.
He underscored that the development of ASEAN plans is crucial for eradicating illicit drugs in ASEAN region, adding that thanks to the workshop, all ASEAN members would expose the best ways to overcome drug dangers and challenges in the region.
The meeting was also attended by Police Colonel Myint Htoo from the Drug Enforcement Division of MPF and party, relegates from ASEAN countries, those from ASEAN Secretariat and dialogue partners China, India, Korea and Russia who discussed development of ASEAN plans and implementation processes. — MNA/TTA
