Fish species added into Ayeyawady river in Bhamo

The Department of Fisheries added fish species into the Ayeyawady river in Bhamo District of Kachin State in order to protect fishery resources, promote fish species, fisheries and fish consumption rate yesterday.
Bhamo District Administration Body Chairman U Khin Maung Lwin and other departmental officials freed 180,000 Labeo Rohita and 100,000 Barbus fish with each measuring 2 inches into the river.
U Mya Thein, head of the department, said that Bhamo District Fisheries Department adds fish species into the Ayeyawady river yearly, and they free only 2-inch fish to raise fish population this year. – District (IPRD)/GNLM
