Foodstuff contaminated with chemical—formalin found out in Wakema Market

A surprise check was made on purified drinking water and foodstuff being put on sale in the market of Wakema township, Myaungmya district in Ayeyarwady Region as to whether they are fit for hygiene or not, finding foodstuff used formalin in making them and unregistered purified drinking water.
In examining the collected samples of foodstuffs, vermicelli and noodle produced by Mya Thidar food industry have been contaminated with formaldehyde out of 26 items, with 5 purified water factories in Wakema, Kyonmangay and Shwelaung found to have been unregistered. Those who produce for distribution of foodstuff unfit for health will be taken into legal actions, it was learnt. —Myanmar Digital NewsWakema 1
