K107 million worth of illegal timbers, vehicles, goods seized

As the action is being taken against illegal trades under the law with the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee K107,420,340 worth of illegal timbers, vehicles, consumer goods and food were confiscated in Kayin State, Sagaing Region and Bago Region on 7 February.
Customs Team on duty at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined checkpoint seized 30 iPad Pro units (estimated value of K28,000,000) from a vehicle (estimated value of K75,000,000) and action is taken under the Customs Law.
The combined inspection teams led by the Forest Department under the management of the Sagaing Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force conducted inspections in the region and confiscated 3.6568 tonnes of illegal teak (estimated value of K1,097,040), and action is taken under the Forest Law.
Similarly, 13.7944 tonnes of illegal timber (estimated value of K3,323,300) were also seized from Bago and Toungoo districts. Therefore, there was a total of four cases (estimated value of K107,420,340) on 7 February, the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee stated. — MNA
