Mandalay rental housing project to implement in six months


The rental housing project containing 3,000 units for the public will be implemented starting from August till 28 February 2021 in six months, according to the regional Urban and Housing Development Department. The rental housing project is located in Shin Taw Gone village near Yakin Maung in Patheingyi Township in Mandalay region. This housing project will be implemented with the spending of the Union Government and regional government budget for the retired civil service staff, those who are near retirement and those who have difficulty buying a flat.
The 188 five-storey apartment buildings have been planned to construct in six months and each room measures 650 square feet, said an official from Mandalay Region Urban and Housing Development Department (MRUHDD).
“Our department constructs the employees’ housing in Mandalay region every year. Mya Yee Nandar housing project containing 1,232 apartments and the flats are constructed and sold with the bank loan system. We have found that some people could not afford to buy the apartments even with the bank loan system. That is the reason why we are implementing this rental housing project. This housing project has been planned to implement in Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw. Our rental housing project in Mandalay will start to be implemented this month. The house rents will be cheaper than those of the privately-owned apartments,” he added.
The Urban and Housing Development Department will build a total of 10,000 apartments covered by this housing project including 6,300 in Yangon region, 700 in Nay Pyi Taw and 3,000 in Mandalay.
