Mandalay’s great musician Myoma Ko Paw passes away

Mandalay’s famous musician Myoma Ko Paw, who composed many well-known songs including the Hna-Ko-Tu-Chit-Tha-Hmya, passed away at around midnight on 28 August, according to the Mandalay’s musicians arena.
The 95-year-old prominent musician U Kyaw Soe, whose pseudonym was Myoma Ko Paw, was born of U Paw and Daw Hla in Dartan Ward of Mandalay in 1289 ME. When he was 24, he entered the music field as a saxophone player of the Myoma Musical Troupe in Mandalay. In 1949, he started composing songs and worked as a cameraman for the Mandalay Film. He won the best cinematography academy award together with U Lu Kalay for the Ko-Pine-Myitta film in 1961. He served as a conductor for the Thingyan Moe movie in 1985 and wrote the Hna-Ko-Tu-Chit-Tha-Hmya song for the movie. In 1991, he also composed Aung-Say-Mingala for the movie Dandayi.
He published the Atate-Thoe-Alwan-Pyay book covering his experiences, milestones and the Myoma Musical Troupe in February 2017.
Great musician Myoma Ko Paw broke his leg after falling suddenly at his house in early August and was under medical treatment before he died. He also suffered from a heart attack. The famous songs he wrote are Chit-Aryone, Hna-Ko-Tu-Chit-Tha-Hmya, Pan-Myo-Tayar, Hnote-Khun-Sat-Thingyan, Chit-Thu-Nae-Thar-So-Yin, Chit-Kabar-Hte-Hna-Yauk-Hte, Maung-Mel-Doh-Hna-Oo and Ma-Khwal-Tan-Kyin-Mel. — TWA/GNLM
