Yadanarbon FC played to a 1-1 draw against Sagaing United in a derby match of the Myanmar National League, played at Mandalar Thiri Stadium in Mandalay yesterday.
As the match was a derby match, fans supported both teams.
Both teams played tough football from the start. The young local players, comprising the Yadanarbon FC, showed their best form against the foreign players and local players in the mixed Sagaing United team.
Yadanarbon FC scored the first and leading goal at 18 minutes by Myanmar football star Aung Thu, with an assist from teammate and youth football star Win Naing Tun.
The goal motivated Sagaing United to act quickly and created frequent opportunities to score, as Sagaing United equalized the goal at the 38 minute mark.
Taking advantage of Yadanarbon’s ragged defence line, the equalizer for Sagaing United was scored by Zaw Lin Htet at 38 minutes.
The score was 1-1 after the first half.
Sagaing United forced continuing play with neat and tidy tackling in the second half, but Yadanabon became the aggressor with a potent, sustained attack. The derby match saw no more goals, ending with a 1-1 draw.—Lynn Thit (Tgi)
