MORE than 120,000 people across the country are using the railway transport services provided by the state-owned Myanma Railways on a daily basis, said U Kyaw Soe Lin from the MR.
The MR put forth continuous efforts to offer better services to its commuters through several railway improvement projects. The MR estimates that the number of commuters is likely to increase after the current projects are completed.
In collaboration with Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the MR is implementing railway improvement projects including repair of railroads, replacement of carriages and installation of modern signals and communication systems to run all railways yards and workshop to full capacity.
Myanma Railways operates its transport service business daily with 38 high-speed trains, 56 postal trains, 58 cargo trains, 215 Yangon circulator trains and 20 more trains which run only short trips around the country.
