Myanmar earns over US$8,000 mln from exporting industrial products in 2023-24 FY

According to Daw Cho Thet Mu, Deputy Director of the Trade Policy Division within the Trade Department under the Ministry of Commerce, Myanmar earned a total of more than US$8,000 million from exporting finished products from the industrial sector in the 2023-24 Financial Year.
Between 1 April 2023 and 31 March 2024, the country exported industrial products worth over US$3,000 million from the government sector and more than US$5,000 million from the private sector.
Daw Cho Thet Mu said, “A total of over US$14.6 billion was earned from exporting products from agricultural, livestock, aquatic, mining, forestry, industrial, and other sectors. Among these, more than US$8 billion was earned from exporting finished industrial products. The majority of exported products in the industrial sector are CMP garments.”
CMP garment products stand at the top of Myanmar’s export items, followed by natural gas, while the top import items are petroleum-related products, followed by textiles, she said.
Garments, clothing, sugar, and jewellery are the primary export items. — ASH/TMT
